The Waking Serpent by Terry Maggert [SBM Review]

The Waking Serpent

Evil is never still. Something wicked is crossing the sea, a creature so old that none even remember its name-- but it has not forgotten the taste of blood. With a succubus ally, a brave priest, and new friends who seem a little less human than most, The Fearless will meet the greatest challenge of their lives. An ancient adversary is stopping by to avenge a wrong from the depths of time in a fight to the death that will bring a goddess to Florida for the best reason of all: Revenge.

Ring and the girls are at it again. Now that Elizabeth is gone the rest of her family is moving in to take her place. We get to see Demi-Gods in their element and it's amazing! My favorite part of Maggert's writing is how he gives you the story from more than one point of view. I enjoy following the trio while still knowing what the "bad guy" is doing to reach the trio. I'm obsessed with this series. All the ancient mythology Maggert includes in his writing is so interesting and makes me want to know more. Can't wait to start the next book and find out where Maggert takes us next!

Red & Wolfe by Ella James [SBM Review]

Red & Wolfe

When Sarah "Red" Ryder loses her job as an art critic for a Boston newspaper, she's brokenhearted. Worse than that? She's broke. Her boyfriend recently left her, so she's stuck paying her hefty apartment rent alone. After two months unemployed, there's no money left. With no immediate family to turn to, Red reaches out to her estranged grandmother, a reclusive writer living on an island off the coast of Charleston. Several days later, Red receives $30,000 and an invitation to visit.
James Wolfe is not Red's grandmother - but he's the only person waiting for her at the boat dock. Red has something he needs. He won't take "no" for an answer, and he doesn't mind screwing her over to get it. He lost his conscience six years ago, when he went off the grid. Since then, life is about him - and the renowned oil paintings he does under the mysterious pseudonym "W."
Until the moment he sees her. Then Red is all he wants. And Wolfe will have her - any way he can.

What an amazing retelling of Red Riding Hood! The story line is so interesting and I can't wait to find out more. This is the second series of James I have read and they are all such great reads. We get the story told from both point of views which I love. We get to see the inner struggle and turmoil the characters are going through. Best of all we get to see all those dirty thoughts! This is one hell of a steamy read. Can't wait to get my hands on the next book. I will be reading this whole series!

Soulfire by Juliette Cross [SBM Review]

Soulfire

Nightwing #1
In a world divided by prejudice and hatred, only love can bridge the chasm.
Tensions are rising in the Gladium Province. The boundary between humans and Morgons has begun to blur. While the human aristocracy strives to maintain distance between their daughters and the dragon-hybrid race, fate has other plans.
As the daughter of the corporate king, Jessen Cade is duty-bound to honor her arranged marriage to a man she detests. Feeling trapped by family duty and a loveless future, she longs for more, straying to the Morgon side of the city.
Lucius Nightwing is the eldest son of the powerful Morgon clan, and the greatest enemy of Jessen’s father. When a bar-room brawl thrusts Jessen into his arms, his dragon roars to the surface, craving to sate his carnal hunger in the brown-eyed beauty. The beast in Lucius recognizes her as his own, even if the man refuses to admit the truth.

This was such a wonderful paranormal romance. I can't wait to find out more about the world Cross has created. Lucius is such an amazing alpha. He's protective, loyal, and loving. A Morgon and Human it's a scandal, but they has soulfire. This was such an amazing start to a new series. I can't wait for the next book. I will be following this series.

Don't Close Your Eyes by Lynessa James [SBM Review]

Don't Close Your Eyes

Klive King is a no-nonsense businessman with a charming streak and stunning looks to match, but when he leaves the office he becomes a ruthless crime boss with a bad temper. When a chance encounter with a beautiful stranger brings an awakening to his arctic soul, his foundations are shaken to the core, and a desire to have her at whatever cost creates an unquenchable thirst. When he realizes he is not the only one seeking Kinsley’s heart, nor is he the only one harboring a dangerous obsession, Klive decides to put his murderous talent to good use in honor of a woman who has no clue she has earned his twisted fealty. However, as his insatiable thirst for her increases, so does his resentment as Kinsley’s sweet light also reveals a darkness that speaks to his own, drawing out the most dangerous and primal parts of his being that could prove deadly to the one he wants most.

Klive was such an interesting character. He's ruthless at his business but he has a soft side. A very soft and loving side. A side that would make any woman fall in love with him. After becoming infatuated with a woman he saw once he becomes obsessed. My favorite line in the book was "If I killed her it would remove her f*cking distraction for good, and I wouldn't have to feel conviction for all the shit I was involved in." It made me take a double take, was a bit scary, but also made me laugh. He obviously has it bad. I can't wait to start the next book. If you're looking for a new sexy bad boy Klive is for you!

Waking The Phoenix by Lindsay Avalon [SBM Review]

Waking The Phoenix

This is a continuation of Connor and Sha's story. Book 1, Breaking the Nexus, should be read first. Look for the third book coming this winter!

As two Realms collide, the world descends into chaos.

From the moment Sha Phoenix dropped into the middle of Detective Connor Flynn’s murder scene, he had known his life would never be the same. Following her claim to be a Sorceri from the Mythrian Realm, he had received a crash course in the impossible as they had struggled to stop a madman. Unfortunately, despite their efforts to stop the Nexus, a magical barrier separating the Mythrian and Human Realms, fractured. Magic and myth are spilling over into the Human Realm, plunging everything into turmoil.

Is their love strong enough to survive the flames of the phoenix?

When Sha vanished through a portal in the middle of battle, Connor did not hesitate to follow the woman he had claimed as his. Now in the Mythrian Realm, they join forces with the Sentinels, the guardians of the Realms, to protect the world they love. Will they be able to contain the evil taking control? Or will they perish in the flames of war?

The story picks up right where the last one left off. I hadn't read the first one before reading this. I just loved the world that Avalon has created and can't wait to go back and discover more about her world. I enjoyed the banter between the characters. I just loved the suspense and can't wait for the next book! This is a great paranormal read that I will no doubt obsess over.

Indiscretion Volume 4 by Elisabeth Grace [SBM Review]

Indiscretion Volume 4

The image was seared into my mind. Imprinted. Emblazoned. Etched.

Did I blame him for what I saw? Or myself, for allowing him the ability to cause the pain coursing through me?

Betrayal was a weapon that cut to the core—the ‘what ifs’ the infection that festered in the wound.

I’d thought we’d had roadblocks thrown in front of us before. Damn. Those would have seemed like mere speed bumps if I’d seen what was coming…

Little did I know that what was headed our way would prove to be the biggest test of all—putting impossible choices in front of us. None of which seemed to lead to a happy ending in which the two of us were together.

****This is the FINAL volume in Max & Chloe's story!****

I have been totally obsessed with this series. It's sweet, loving, it has mystery and suspense, and hot as hell! My heart just goes out to this couple. I love how Grace writes in both characters point of view. I get to see the inner struggle and the witness the hard choices that have to make. I was in tears at the end of this book. I hated to see it end, but the ending was so amazing I couldn't help but cry. This is the first books from this author I have read, but she now has a fan for life! I can't wait to read more of  Grace's work.

Inevitable Detour by S.R. Grey [SBM Review]

Inevitable Detour

The day my life took an inevitable detour things got a little crazy.

My name is Essalin Brant, but everyone calls me Essa. I attend a small college in a tiny town, and in my twenty-two years of life I’ve never even traveled outside the state of Pennsylvania. You could say my life is pretty boring. I live by the rules. I’m a good girl and nothing exciting ever happens.

But that’s all about to change.

Enter Farren Shaw. Not only is he older and intimidating, but he’s more sure of himself than any 29-year-old man has a right to be. Did I mention that he’s drop-dead gorgeous? Well, he is. He also happens to be my best friend Haven’s brother. And I would be content with just fantasizing about Farren from afar, but when Haven suddenly goes missing, her gorgeous brother is the only one who believes me when I say she was abducted, even though all signs seem to suggest Haven left town willingly.

I know better, though. As does Farren. So when he asks me to accompany him to search for his sister, I accept.

That’s when the real adventure begins.

Our quest to find Haven takes us across the country. And throughout the time we spend together, I find myself falling for Farren . . . falling hard. He's everything I’ve ever wanted. But is he really someone I should fear?

Because aside from making me feel things I’ve never felt before, Farren is hiding something. Something big. What could this stunning man be keeping from me? And why? Is Haven’s disappearance somehow connected to his mysterious job?

All I know is that things are about to get real.

Welcome to the Inevitable Detour that has become my life.

This was a page turner. It was fun and flirty at the beginning. Two college friends blowing off some steam after finals. The next morning everyone's life has changed. This was a such a great suspenseful mystery! The further I went into the book the more I found out and I know there is still more to uncover! Who is Farren? Good or bad? All I know is he's hot! I just loved all the action and suspense and I can't wait to get my hands on the next installment! Looking for a sexy mysterious suspense read? This is the one you gotta grab!!
