Anna by Julia Crane [SBM Review]

Anna

Follow Anna from Keegan's Chronicles on her own adventure!

Seventeen-year-old Anna is an unskilled, natural witch still seeking a way to access her magick. When she moves to Seattle for college, she encounters two powerful witches who need her as much as she needs them. For the first time, Anna believes she's found someone who can help her explore her own magick.

Her dream quickly turns into a nightmare.

Creatures of the Light have gone missing, and the witches she admires so well are a part of the mystery.

Before she knows it, Anna is knee deep in the disappearances and trying to forge a relationship with a certain soldier named Tommy, all while trying to find her way. Will she have time to save the creatures of the light or will she become the next victim?

This was such a fun adventure. I loved Anna. She has to figure out how to use her powers and luckily she has friends who are there to help her. The boo was funny, exciting, suspenseful, and kept me on the edge of my seat. Once I started it I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read more from Crane and enjoy another one of her adventures.

Ted Saves the World by Bryan Cohen [SBM Review]

Ted Saves The World

Ted Finley was your typical, wise-cracking teenager… …until an otherworldly force gave him abilities beyond his wildest dreams.
After an unintended public display of his powers, Ted has become an instant celebrity and the target of a gang of undead thugs.
Sixteen-year-old Erica LaPlante was six-feet-under when a blast of blue light brought her body back to life. Armed with the consciousness of a fierce warrior, Erica must keep her teenage urges at bay to protect the newfound hero.
When sparks fly between Ted and Erica, Erica wants nothing more than to hide who she really is and the dangerous mission they must face. But when their school comes under attack, Ted and Erica must use everything at their disposal to save their friends, the town and... well, the world.

This was such a fun adventure. Ted is destined to save the world. He doesn't know why, but he does know he can be what ever he wants to be. This story is perfect for younger readers. It's exciting, suspenseful, and a lot of fun! Even though Ted is the main character of the book the female characters are strong and caring. I know this is a book I'll be sharing with my teenage daughter.

Naughty King by Michelle A. Valentine [SBM Review]

Naughty King

The King Always Gets His Way.
Women, business, pleasure: When I want it, I get it.
I’m never denied.
Including her.
I will break her.
I will show her who the king of this city really is.
The Feisty Princess of Manhattan will learn I am not a man that can be tempted.
No matter how fucking bad I want her in my bed.

This was a sexy and fun read. The King grabbed my attention from the first page!!  He knows who he is and what he wants. He may have met his match with him new assistant. I love his Yamada. Everyone needs a friend like him! The story is told in both main characters point of view. I love being inside the characters head and having a better understating of who they really are. The story is fast paced and never gave me a chance to catch my breath. I can't wait to read the next book.

Carnelian by B.Kristin McMichael [SBM Review]

Carnelian
(The Chalcedony Chronicles Book 1)

Everyone has a past, but for most it isn’t as long ago as Seth Sangre. His past is literally thousands of years ago. Seth’s life led him to the present seeking something that might help him save his country from destruction. He has been in the present for over three years now and just found exactly what he has been looking for.

Mari had dreams that college will be a fresh start, one where she would start over and not fall for the good looking player like high school. Unfortunately for her, that’s exactly what ends up falling into her lap on the first day she moves into the dorms. Now she has to hold to her promise to herself and not fall for the handsome Seth. But he doesn’t plan to make it easy for her. Seth has already marked her as his next conquest. As the semester progresses, Mari learns that Seth might just have a life of his own that’s actually from the past. Suddenly Mari finds her future along with her past put into question. She’s connected to Seth far more than she ever wanted to be and maybe the player isn’t who she thought he was. If Mari can trust her heart enough to follow him, Seth will lead Mari on an adventure of a lifetime and reveal family secrets she never knew existed

What a great adventure. For me the story started out slow. I gradually became invested in the characters and the love story. I love time travel stories and this was my first trip to Egypt. The story line is unique and original. In this first book I got a great back ground on the story and characters. There is still much more to learn and I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book. Before I even finished this book I bought the next book.

The Black Road by Joseph DiBartolo [SBM Review]

The Rise of Peter Troy
(Vol 2 The Black Road)

The journey continues with Peter Troy and his company as they fight for answers as to what caused the outbreak as well as reaching their families scattered all over the country. The action is intense, and the gore is more, with Peter slaying his way to the twisted and shocking truth behind the decayed ones. Who will survive? Who will become a decayed one? And who will meet Peter's trusty meat cleaver? Don't miss the second installment of this short story series, The Rise of Peter Troy: The Black Road

This story is so entertaining. The first installment surprised me and had me laughing out loud. Our group is still together and focusing on surviving and trying to find out what happened. I love the banter between the characters and the humor DiBartolo puts into the story. I'm enjoying the story line and am so happy to see that the group has an end game and is working together to achieve it. I can't wait to find out what the group has to face in the next installment.

Hidden Violet by Vivian Winslow [SBM Review]

Hidden Violet
(The Vi Trilogy)

With her hidden past about to be exposed, Vi turns to her longtime friend and confidant, Thomas Squires, for help. Yet, they may just risk exposing their feelings for each other in the process. When Lily’s engagement to Alejandro is threatened by ex-lover Gustavo, Vi is forced to come clean with her best friend and possibly destroy the lives of those she loves. Now that her secrets are no longer hidden, Vi faces the most difficult challenge yet—how to build a new life for herself outside of the shadows.

This series just keeps getting better and better. I found more than one twist I was not expecting in this installment. I love how Winslow writes this series. There is no retelling of any part of the story from another point of view. So I am never bored and it's always fresh and new. I'm so excited to find out where Winslow takes me next! One thing I'm sure of the men are going to be hot and the steamy scenes will make my e-reader smoke!

Spirits, Stilettos and a Silver Bustier b Deanna Chase [SBM Review]

Spirits, Stilettos and a Silver Bustier
(A Pyper Rayne Novel)

From New York Times bestselling author Deanna Chase a spin off of the Jade Calhoun Series.

Coffee shop owner Pyper Rayne now sees dead people. After she purchases the perfect vintage dress, a sexy ghost from Pyper’s recent past is suddenly everywhere—at her cafĂ©, crashing parties, and even lounging in her bedroom. But he’s not just any ghost. He’s a witch and able to appear in solid form…sometimes. If only he'd stop disappearing on her.

And he has a job for her. In between stolen kisses, Pyper will need to help him solve a ninety-year old murder if she wants to free him from an ancient curse…and maybe finally get that date he keeps promising her.

I love the Jade Calhoun series. When I found out Pyper was getting her own spin off series I was so excited. Pyper is such an amazing character. She's use to depending on one person, herself. Now she has a support system and she sure does need it! I still got to visit the characters I already loved, but this story is centered around Pyper. I can't wait to follow Pyper in up coming stories. The fun, action, mystery, and suspense is all here. In the end I couldn't help but smile.
