Hopeful Leigh by Melanie James [SBM Review]

Hopeful Leigh

If Leigh has learned anything this summer, it’s that magic can be chaotic. Despite some headline making disasters in her last diary, Leigh is eternally hopeful. With Four-bitten Fangtasy behind her, Leigh decides to write a little paranormal erotica with her newest disasterpiece, Bangin’ the Billion-were. She even takes on a rehash of the popular YA dystopian genre, in her novella Regurgitant. It seems that even the editing of other author’s writing can make her unwittingly fire up her literal-witchcraft. Leigh finds out how bad things can get when her friends ask her to edit their own cowboy-biker book, Steel Stetsons. Despite the flurry of writing, Leigh’s romantic heart is racing. Her boyfriend, Hunter will finally graduate from the Chicago Police Academy. Will Leigh and Hunter finally be able to enjoy some quality time on a camping trip? What will Leigh think of Hunter’s unique family? What is Luna capable of when pushed to an act of desperation?
It seems Randy “Johnson” (Designer at Paranormal Chic) and Gertie have unwittingly uncovered a new mystery for Leigh and her hapless coven to sort out. Now, the upcoming Witches Halloween Gala is in jeopardy, not to mention the future of civilization. Follow these magical misfits, as they travel half way around the world to a hexed Scottish Castle and take on the very essence of evil, in Hopeful Leigh.

I enjoyed the first two books in this series and this one is even better! James has created such a wonderful world and I'm looking forward to many more stories. It has mystery, comedy, and some hot and sexy fun! I think I love this series so much because I can relate to Leigh and her friends. They remind me of my friends. Getting into trouble and helping each other out of it. Most of all having a friendship that holds strong no matter what. If you haven't read this series yet you're missing out!!

Fueled by Lust: Drusus by Celeste Prater [SBM Review]

Fueled by Lust: Drusus

Drawn to Texas by a vortex link between Insedivertus and a plethora of potential mates, Prince Drusus Tarquinius focuses on ensuring the survival of his alien race. Avelina Roth is simply out on the town trying to forget her love troubles when their accidental meeting draws them both into a dangerous liaison that brings a hated enemy back into Drusus's life and shatters Avelina's belief that we are alone in this universe. How does troubled in love Avelina Roth deal with the overwhelming Drusus Tarquinius, a force not of this Earth, when he engages her in his mating cycle the moment they meet? Will Drusus overlook the past and move forward with the final mating? Will Avelina survive to know the full depth of his love when the planetary war that pushed the aliens to seek mates knocks firmly on her door? Packed with plenty of romance, hot, hunky men, humor, and scorching, knee-wobbling sex, this author recommends gloves when reading. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

This was an interesting story. The world Prater has created was interesting. The book made me giggle several times. The main character Drusus I just couldn't take seriously. I felt like he would say Me man you me mate. Ok, so I do love a good alpha, but when a character actually says it like that. I can't help but laugh at him. I couldn't get past that and it just distracted me.

Her DOM'S Lesson by A.D. Justice [SBM Review]

Her DOM'S Lesson

Sophia Vasco
Will he ever forgive me? This question haunts me every day and night. He branded me with his touch to the point that no other man will ever compare.
Dominic consumed my life. Until the day he learned the truth about me and everything changed. Nothing is as it seems and it has all spiraled out of control. The weight of the world now rests on my shoulders.
I have to fix this.

Dominic Powers
Some say that Karma is a bitch. I can say from experience that a betrayed Dom is much worse than a bastard ever thought about being.
They think they played me. I denied the man inside me his rightful place and was mistaken for a fool. When I'm done with them, they will feel the lash of her Dom's lesson.
This isn't over.

This book picks up right where the first left off. Right from the beginning you could feel the emotions Sophia is going through. I don't want to give away any spoilers. This book is so much more than I ever thought it would be. It was suspenseful and had my emotions all over the place. I can't wait to read more from Justice and find out where she takes us next!

A Charming Crime by Tonya Kappes [SBM Review]

A Charming Crime

Bubble... Bubble...

June Heal has nothing to lose when she relocates her homeopathic cure shop, A Dose of Darla, from the flea market booth in her home town, to a quaint shop in the cozy but unusual little town of Whispering Falls, Kentucky. Or so it seems.

Cures and trouble...

Whispering Falls has a lot of secrets. From talking snow globes to whispering animals not to mention a few sprinkles of fairy dust, June realizes Whispering Falls is more magical than she thought. . .literally.

Magic stirs...

June discovers she was born into a family of psychics, and her homeopathic cures truly are magical. Unfortunately, they are not magical enough to save her from being the number one murder suspect when a member of the community that she had just had a disagreement with shows up face down in the lake with June’s lucky charm in the victim’s grasp.

And troubles double...

Add to that an attraction to her high school best friend, Sheriff Oscar Park and Mr. Prince Charming, her cat, is stealing charms from Belle’s Baubles, June is forced to clear her name in more ways than murder. After all, they don’t have cauldrons in jail.

I just loved this story! It's a great paranormal mystery. It grabbed my attention from the start. I just love all the characters that Kappes has created. The story was fun and funny at times. It was also mysterious with edge of the seat suspense. I can't wait to follow this series.

The Captive by Grace Burrowes [SBM Review]

The Captive

He'll never be free...
Captured and tortured by the French, Christian Severn, Duke of Mercia, survives by vowing to take revenge on his tormentors. Before the duke can pursue his version of justice, Gillian, Countess of Greendale, reminds him that his small daughter has suffered much in his absence, and needs her papa desperately.
Until he surrenders his heart...
Gilly endured her difficult marriage by avoiding confrontation and keeping peace at any cost. Christian's devotion to his daughter and his kindness toward Gilly give her hope that she could enjoy a future with him, for surely he of all men shares her loathing for violence in any form. Little does Gilly know, the battle for Christian's heart is only beginning.

"Some Silences we are compelled to keep." This story was so well written that I truly felt taken back in time. Both Duke and Duchess has lived through their own personal hell and have kept it secret from everyone. They find comfort within each other's arms while facing their past. They also worry about the Duke's daughter who is refusing to talk. She also has secrets that she has to hide in order to protect the ones she love. My heart just went out to this family. This is the first book I have read from this author and I can't wait to read more. If you love historical romance you do not want to miss this book!

The Curse Defiers by Denise Grover Swank [SBM Review]

The Curse Defiers

For centuries the gods have waited—for the betrayal that will release them, for the traitors who will defend them, for the warrior who will challenge them. Now at long last the gate between the human and spirit worlds is open, and with it, an army of vengeful demons poised to swarm the earth. Only the Curse Keepers, Ellie Lancaster and Collin Dailey, can stop it…if they can break free from a tangled web of treachery, jealousy, and lies.
Torn between two men—her heart belongs to David, yet her soul is bound to Collin’s—Ellie no longer knows who she can trust. Demons slipping through the gate are leaving a trail of bodies in their wake, each death a chilling reminder of the power of the ancient spirits to bring humanity to its knees. Faced with an unimaginable future, Ellie realizes the time has come to turn her back on prophecy and choose her own destiny—even if it means defying the gods themselves.
In the thrilling conclusion to the Curse Keepers trilogy, humanity faces its final battle for survival!

I just love this series and couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. The story is deep rooted in mythology and is interesting. Obviously the author took a lot of time and care researching and giving us such an amazing story. Each book keeps getting better and better. This is one of those series I can read over and over. The suspense and action will keep you glued to your e-reader. My heart raced and I hated to see it end!

Fashionably Dead Down Under by Robyn Peterman [SBM Review]

Fashionably Dead Down Under

Welcome to Hell.
Literally.
The Hell where the Prince of Darkness is hotter than Hades, Hell Hounds smell like brownies and the Seven Deadly Sins are addicted to Facebook…Not to mention the soundtrack in the Underworld is Journey. For real.
I should have known no good could come from offing my parents in the space of twenty minutes no matter how psychotic and evil they were…
Now I find out my family tree includes almost every deity and mythological being alive while Ethan, the one and only love of my undead life has a limited time down under before he turns to dust. In the land of Sin, you’d think I’d get some nookie time with my man, but no. Baby Demons, cousins and grandparents put the kibosh on that. Blue balls are the new normal. What the hell does a half-Vampyre Half-Demon have to do to catch a break?
Apparently find a freakin’ sword, calm Mother Nature’s unmedicated mood swings and make sure Mister Rogers keeps his sticky fingers to himself during weekly poker with the Devil.
And I have three days to do it.
By all that’s unholy, I thought Ethan’s Vampyre family was crazy…Trust me, they have nothing on the Demons.

I just loved the first book, but this one is even better. Those little monster are so damn cute and I don't think I'll ever get enough of them. We find out more about Astrid's true purpose and I'm so excited to find out what happens to her next. Peterman's writing is so fun, exciting, and oh so sexy! I am loving this world Peterman has created. Thankfully the third book is already out and I can grab it NOW and find out what happens to her and her new family!!

Shadow Cursed (The Daughters of Darkness, #2) by NL Hoffmann [SBM Review]

Shadow Cursed (The Daughters of Darkness, #2)

U.S. Marshal Jacey Noble has just taken a well-deserved vacation when one of her fugitives ends up murdered. Detective Trent Vinolva is less than enthusiastic to take on a new partner, especially hot-blooded Jacey, who lives to push his buttons. When they encounter a werewolf at the scene, Jacey is thrust into a new world of supernatural beings and high-stakes encounters with no one else to turn to but Trent.

Jacey discovers that she’s a Shadow, one in an order of powerful beings able to manipulate darkness. But Jacey is not just any Shadow. Amidst the whirlwind of discovering her newly activated powers, Jacey must solve the murder while battling sexual tension with Detective Vinolva. Things get interesting when the pair discovers Jacey’s demonic father and her hot tempered sister. Finding herself in a new world, teetering on the brink of supernatural war, Jacey doesn’t know who to trust. She must rely on her own instincts and U.S. Marshal training to separate fact from fiction in her new reality.

With the help of the Supernatural Council and Trent by her side, Jacey attempts to accomplish the impossible: evade the corrupt Shadows on her tail and solve a murder case that becomes increasingly complex, all while transforming into her true self. Will Jacey embrace who she was born to be, or fight against her fate due to her fear of the unknown? Find out in Shadow Cursed.

I just loved Hoffmann's first book, but I love this one even more!! The Noble sisters are so amazing. They are immature more of the time, but that just hides the fact of how deadly they truly are. They seem to have their father's sense of humor and you can't help but laugh while you're reading. It also has some amazing sexy scenes and the action is just non stop! I can't wait to meet the third sister and see what trouble they find themselves in next!

Her DOM by A.D. Justice [SBM Review]

Her DOM

My name is Dominic Powers. My software engineering company, DPS is one of the top 500 companies in the world. Conducting a search for my Personal Assistant brought an unexpected candidate straight to me.

I knew she was different as soon as she walked into my high-rise office. She exuded innocence and inexperience. Those are two things in a woman that normally don’t attract me, but I am apparently making an exception for her. She’s young and delicate – and I’m afraid she won’t make it in my world.

But the carnal man I’ve kept hidden deep inside me says I have to try.

She is my Sophia Vasco.

I am Her Dom.

This story was not what I expected. Dominic is such an amazing DOM. I found this story to be more of a touching love story than a hard core BDSM.  She was hurt and he's going to show her that she can trust him. I even trust that he will do what is best for the couple. I can't wait to find out where Justice takes us in the next book.
