Get off on the Pain by Victoria Ashley [SBM Review]

Get off on the Pain

Sexy, tattooed and inevitably dangerous. Memphis is all that and more…

I live for the pain; it’s what drives me to keep moving. But there comes a time when one has to push the demons aside in order to survive.

I thought I buried them deep. I thought I was ready to finally live. Until… my brother, Alex; he throws me into the fire—right into the place I could never control myself, the one place I never want to be again.

When I put my hands on people, they get hurt. Things happen that bring me back to that night. The one that will forever torment me.

I’m doing fine, keeping to myself in order to ensure no one gets hurt by me. Then along comes Lyric, and all I want to do is touch her, to put my hands in places that I know will only lead to her being crushed by me.

She’s the rush that I crave. The darkest of poison running through my veins, killing me bit by bit; like a drug I can’t get enough of even though I’m almost down to my last breath.

And being around her only hurts more, but what she doesn’t understand is that I welcome the pain; I get off on it, which in the end leaves me with the hardest decision of my life—one that might get us all killed…

I just loved this story line. Bad boy doing good is always my favorite stories!! Memphis is a Bad boy not by choice but by circumstance. He's fiercely loyal and protective and oh so damn hot!! The story is told in two person point of view. I always love having the inner dialog within the main characters. I get a better sense of their motivation and understand their reactions to situations. There was a couple spots in the book that seemed repetitive to me. However, it didn't take anything away from the main story line and the amazing love story of Memphis and Lyric. I can't wait to read Ashley's next sexy story.

Sin Part 4 by Casey Bond [SBM Review]

Sin Part 4

The last weeks have been some of the most amazing and most tumultuous of my life. But I have a feeling that the most turbulent hours are those that are rushing toward me. It’s almost fight night.

Shane says he’ll keep me safe, and that he’ll make sure all bases are covered. I want to believe him. The feeling deep in my bones, the one that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end is here. And it disagrees with every confident word he speaks.

I can’t distract him with my worries. I have to be strong and reach deep within for some sort of strength. I have to trust Shane Justice with my life, and my heart.

It's fight night!! Bond gave me a twist I didn't see coming. Morgan went through so many emotions that night and kept me on the edge of my seat. I am so rooting for Morgan and Shane to have a HEA. Only one more book in the series and I'm so excited, but I know I'm going to miss this amazing against all odds couple!

Promise by Kristie Cook [SBM Review]

Promise
(Soul Savers #1)

Alexis Ames has a life full of promise...but not all promises can be kept.

When Alexis Ames is attacked by creatures that can't be real, she decides it's time she learns who she really is, with or without the help of her mother, who guards their family's secrets closely. After meeting the inhumanly attractive, multi-talented Tristan Knight, however, Alexis retreats behind her façade of normalcy...until she discovers he's not exactly normal either. Then their secrets begin to unravel.

Their union brings hope and promise to her family's secret society, the Angels' army, and to the future of mankind. But it also incites a dangerous pursuit by the enemy - Satan's minions and Tristan's creators. After all, Alexis and Tristan are a match made in Heaven and in Hell.

What a wonderful new world! Alexis is having to not only discover who she really is, but having to deal with just how important she is to the world. Tristan is the bad guy now doing good! He's hot and just irresistible. Destiny has it's own plans for the two. This was a great foundation for what is expecting to be an amazing series!!

Sin Part 3 by Casey L. Bond [SBM Review]

Sin Part 3

If there is one thing I’ve learned, it’s that being a puppet sucks. For most of my life, it was my father who worked the strings. I thought that the strings had finally been severed, that by running away I had finally assumed control of my life. I was wrong.

Maybe control is an illusion. Because since I’ve met Shane Justice, I’ve lost control of my mind. Hell, I’ve lost control of my own body at times. And I’ve learned that those strings are still there. They are being worked by the hand of a man I’ve never met. By all accounts, my puppet master is dangerous. But there is one thing he doesn’t know: I’m still desperate to sever those strings, desperate to get away. And desperation can make people do crazy things.

***Mature audiences only due to adult language and situations. SIN is a serial novel. This means that the book will be released in parts, or increments, similar to episodes in a television show.

Sin you go get it girl!!! I loved this installment of SIN. This is such a great series. Morgan ran away to be free only to find out there is someone one else now controlling life. Lucky for her she has to endure this with one hot fighter!! Brooklyn is definitely a friend everyone should be lucky enough to have! "Want me to have him taken care of? I know people." I loved that and that is a true friend. Morgan doesn't take Shane's mood swings lying down. I love it every time she points out to him how he is acting like such a diva lol.  I love Morgan and can't wait to read more.

Wither by Amy Miles [SBM Review]

Wither
(The Withered Series #1)

The world went to hell two weeks ago and twenty-one-year-old, Avery Whitlock, just watched it happen.

After an epidemic swept across America like a biblical plague, the government leapt into the fray with the release of the MONE vaccine. What was meant to bring salvation to the remaining survivors instead brought damnation. Human mutations began within days of the drug’s release and the Withered Ones were born. People not alive but not entirely dead either. They walked the streets, unblinking and unaware. A zombie, for all intents and purposes, but nothing like anyone anticipated.

Growing up on the streets taught Avery how to care for herself, but no amount of self defense classes at the Y could have prepared her for the outbreak of deadly gangs, a corrupt government bent on using her blood for experiments and the depths to which desperate people would go to survive. She soon discovered that it was not the Withered Ones that she needed to fear, but those still human. The ones who knew how to put a gun to her head when they wanted something from her.

Avery was forced to decide how far would she be willing to go to survive just one more day.

Wither is a psychological thriller that poses the question...what if the zombies aren't the ones we should fear? What if it's human nature instead?

This is not your typical zombie story. A young woman has to find a way to navigate a new world and try to survive. By the end of the story I didn't feel like I knew any of the characters. I understand having to keep moving to survive however I didn't feel like there was any long term goal they were heading toward. The battle scenes were intense and so suspenseful. Miles did an amazing job with her imagery and at times I actually felt a little sick to my stomach. I will read the next book, because I am curious to discover what adventure Miles will take me on next.

Sin Part 2 by Casey L. Bond [SBM Review]

Sin Part 2

My brief life as Morgan Fairbanks was a catastrophe. I was able to escape my father and Johnathon, the man he’d sold my hand to, but couldn’t escape my own stupidity. I had my first photography job and then my second. Both were successful. I was living on my own for the first time in my life. Sure, it was out of a crappy hotel, but that was temporary.

But then Shane Justice just had to walk his sexy ass into my life. I let my guard down as the shot glasses piled up. The next thing I knew, Morgan Fairbanks was gone. God rest her non-existent soul. Shane and I had gotten trashed, married and had stepped into a dangerous pile of crap in one foolish, forgotten night. My name is now Morgan Justice. I need an annulment stat! As much as I hate the name Sinclare, it’s mine. And I want it back.

*Recommended for readers ages 18 and up due to adult situations, content and language.

Everyone knows who Sin is now and she has to hide. I am enjoying this series. Morgan and Shane are obviously attracted to each other, but something is holding him back. I can't to find out more about the back story. I love all the nicknames Sin has for Shane especially Jerkstice. The series is fun and sensual. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Tethered Wings by Cameo Renae [SBM Review]

Tethered Wings
(Hidden Wings #3)

Back from their quest into the Underworld, with the threat of Lucian hanging over head, Emma is faced with yet another problem—the Immortal Bond. The bond surpasses any reason and is something so complex, not much is known about it. Once an Immortal Bond is made, it is forever. A conjoining of two fated hearts, destined to be perfect companions.
Emma’s heart, already bonded with her Guardian, Kade, has unexpectedly and inconveniently bonded with Ethon, the son of Lucifer. Now she is faced with a decision she doesn't want to make. Both want nothing more than to love and protect her.
With the arrival of new company and old friends, things are bound to get heated.

I was so happy for Emma, because her best friends are going to visit her. Of course change always happens to young people and Emma has gone through more changes than she had ever expected. Emma has to make so many big decisions that will not only change her life, but the lives of those ones she loves. This book didn't have as much action as the previous book, however it was no less spellbinding. This series is so suspenseful and the world Renae has created is so interesting and exciting. I'm so glad I discovered no only this series, but Renae as well. Renae has become one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to find out where she takes me in her next book.

Broken Wings by Cameo Renae [SBM Review]

Broken Wings
(Hidden Wings #2)

Emma’s world is falling apart, and Kade, the only one who seems to hold her together, is missing. With death lingering right outside their door, decisions must be made before it’s too late.

The Midway has refused to send help, so they are left to seek out the only other who can stop Lucian.

A perilous quest sends Emma and a few Guardians into the Underworld, where the unimaginable abide, to beseech the Prince of Darkness himself. Lucifer.

Now, they must endure the deadly levels of Hell, which not one …mortal or immortal… has ever survived.

Prepare for love, loss, and the unexpected.

Our group gets to take a trip to hell! They have to get through the gates of hell. The love and commitment this group has for Emma is so amazing. They are all willing to not only kill for her but die for her. Emma only recently began learning who she is and in only two books I can see the transformation taking place. I have only recently discovered Renae and she has easily become one of my one click authors. Her books have all been so exciting and interesting. I can not wait to grab the next book and find out what adventure Renae takes me on next!

Captive in the Dark by CJ Roberts [SBM Review]

Captive in the Dark
(The Dark Duet Book #1)

BOOK ONE OF THE DARK DUET:

Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.

Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.

WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence.

A person that kidnaps another is the bad guy, right? After reading this I'm feeling conflicted. I actually feel compassion and sympathy for Caleb. I'm confused, but I do know I love this series. This story is erotic, suspenseful, and had my glued to my e-reader. I just love my PLN friend who shared this book with me! I can't wait to start the next book!

Sanctum by Cameo Renae [SBM Reivew]

Sanctum
(The After Light Saga #2)

The Arvy threat worsens each day. They continue to destroy the hives vital fuel resources, leaving us with one option--evacuate to the largest government bunker, located in South Dakota.

The injured hive members are moved as first priority, but a disastrous event occurs on the way to our drop-off zone. We find ourselves in a ghost town, surrounded by spiteful, revenge-filled Arvies. Chaos ensues and our death toll rises. Just when we think the end has come, unsuspected help arrives. We are rescued and brought to an underground bunker.

They call it Sanctum.

With no way of reaching outside help, we must depend on each other to reach our pick-up zone, thirty miles away. If we don't make it in time, we will be left for dead.

Time is ticking.

My name is Abigail Park. I am a survivor.

This is such a great adventure! The Survivors have to move to a larger facility and they comes with new challenges. I also found out Abi is more special than I even thought after reading the first book. The only thing I could of done less with was the romance part of it. Although the couples are sweet and loving. I do enjoy them, however I felt it was a little more than necessary in this book. It didn't take anything away from the main story line. It still had so much action and nail biting scenes. I am just loving this series and can't wait to find out what happens in the next government sanctuary.
